When the Right Fiduciary Matters
Fiduciary work requires more than technical knowledge. It requires sound judgment, careful documentation, clear communication, and the ability to coordinate legal, financial, and personal considerations with discretion.
Led personally by Jerry S. Blakely, the practice is intentionally selective so that each accepted matter receives direct attention, organized administration, careful documentation, and consistent follow-through. Immediate, transitional, and time-sensitive matters may be considered, subject to availability, suitability, conflict review, and appropriate engagement or appointment.
Fiduciary Services
Professional support for matters requiring independence, experience, and careful administration.
J. Blakely Fiduciary works collaboratively with estate planning, probate, and trust administration attorneys who need an independent fiduciary for initial appointments, transitional matters, or time-sensitive client needs.
Immediate and time-sensitive matters may often be accommodated, subject to availability, conflict review, and suitability.
Representative fiduciary engagements include:
Successor trustee appointments
Probate fiduciary administration, in coordination with retained legal and tax professionals
Independent third-party fiduciary appointments
Financial power of attorney
Fiduciary transition or stabilization matters
Conflict-sensitive family situations
Inherited IRA or retirement plan distribution coordination
Engagements Outside My Practice Focus
To provide each client and referring attorney with a high level of personal attention, J. Blakely Fiduciary accepts engagements selectively.
The practice generally does not accept conservatorships of the person, guardianships, healthcare decision-making matters, stand-alone trust accounting engagements, high-volume institutional trust administration, or matters located primarily outside California.
Engagements are accepted based on the nature of the appointment, availability, conflict review, suitability, and the ability to provide the level of personal service each matter deserves.

Professional Fees
Compensation reflects the responsibility, judgment, documentation, coordination, and fiduciary duties required by each appointment.
Hourly fiduciary services generally range from $175 to $225 per hour, depending on the fiduciary role, complexity, urgency, and level of coordination required.
Compensation for certain appointments may instead be determined by the governing instrument, California law, court order, or court approval. The applicable rate, any retainer, reimbursable expenses, travel charges, and other matter-specific terms will be disclosed in writing before services begin or addressed through the applicable court process, as appropriate.
